# 40 & # 50 General  Information

Depending on the chain make the 'A & B' dim may change slightly, the same goes for other styles of links also not just masters.
That means a plate or spike may not slide over 'B', and 'A' could be just slightly short or long depending on what type of chain your trying to mate with.

For #40 style chain 'B' is usually .155 and 'A' is about .516 (to the inside of the slot).

Try and keep link and chain styles together   ie: Diamond, UST & IMO, Peer, etc.

CHAIN ELONGATION

IMO (offshore)  3% per 10' length
UST (domestic) 1 1/2 to 2% per 10' length
